Earlier this year we bemoaned the lack of funding for thoughtful flood mitigation in the Province. And so, it is only fair to praise when praise is due. The Province announced back in the heady pre-election days (March 2017) a new fund that would support flood mitigation. The details of this program, being managed by UBCM, have just been released. There is $32M available for a variety of different emergency preparedness projects, including flood studies and flood infrastructure. Applications for flood studies are due October 27th, 2017. If you are a local government or First Nation interested in getting started on a flood resiliency plan – take a look at the program details.
