In 2016, the Province of BC announced real money for flood mitigation (see our post on flood funding allocations for details). And so, there was a glimmer of hope that we would see a repeat this year – ideally tied to an actual transparent program based on best practice principles for flood management. It was not to be.
As a consultancy that survives mostly on government contracts we struggle with biting the hand that feeds us. However, we also strongly believe that facts are facts – and that when it comes to progressive funding for flood management in the province, BC falls short. This is an issue of public safety that needs more attention. And so, when our principal, Tamsin Lyle, was interviewed yesterday about the 2017 BC Budget – she spoke her truth.
