Ebbwater’s principal was recently invited to participate on a Sea Level Rise panel event with Henk Ovink, Special Envoy for International Water Affairs for the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and Deborah Carlson of West Coast Environmental Law. One of the interesting take-aways was that the Lower Mainland region in British Columbia has some excellent examples of best practice for climate adaptation as described by Henk Ovink. However, we still face obstacles if all areas of the region are to be equally resilient, and that some of these challenges are legal. If you’d prefer to hear the whole story yourself – a recording of the event is here.
Thanks to the event organisers (SFU ACT, City of Vancouver, Pacific Institute for Climate Solutions, Pacific Water Research Centre, Vancouver Aquarium) for inviting our participation.
