Kayla Dawson | Operations and Program Manager
Kayla has 12 years of diverse project engineering and management experience in government, private sector, start-up, and consulting settings. Her work spans the civil/municipal, electrical, renewable energy, and oil and gas industries. Her varied technical experience includes performing field hydrologic monitoring and sampling, preparing baseline hydrology reports, maintaining groundwater and soil remediation systems, geotechnical field reconnaissance, planning and executing coal mine remediation field programs including onsite contractor management, meteorological tower design, installation and maintenance, wind data analysis, wind project design, and preparation of wind resource reports.
Her management experience has focused on implementing new technologies or processes, driven by a problem-solver’s desire to mitigate and adapt to climate change. She has managed a team of highly technical experts through the scoping, contracting, design, construction, and operation of interconnection facilities for renewable energy projects connecting to the BC Hydro electrical grid. She has also managed construction of civil works including separated sewers, streets, and active transportation paths. Her experience includes applying for and reporting on provincial and national funding programs. Leveraging experience in highly political environments, Kayla facilitates discussions that navigate technical challenges fraught with conflicting priorities and risk tolerances.
