Ebbwater Project Engineer Heather Murdock co-authored a paper entitled “Assessment of Critical Infrastructure Resilience to Flooding Using a Response Curve Approach” which was recently accepted for publication in a special issue on “Disaster-risk Reduction and Impact Assessment for Resilience and Sustainability” in the Journal of Sustainability.
This paper is based on research conducted as part of Heather’s masters thesis and proposes a quantitative method to assess the resilience of critical infrastructure to flood. This method applies a response curve approach and expected annual disruption metric as shown below. This is meant to help decision makers as it provides a way to compare the relative improvements of resilience enhancing measures for critical infrastructure.
At Ebbwater we are always working on improving our risk and resilience assessment methods and aren’t afraid to innovate.
