Ebbwater’s Principal, Tamsin Lyle, was invited to present and facilitate a portion of a workshop put on by the Kootenay Division of the Planning Institute of British Columbia. The goal of the event was to provide Kootenay Planners and other officials with a basic understanding of why flood maps are needed and how they are made. Ebbwater provided materials on both how flood maps are used, and how they are made. Workshop participants also got an opportunity to get their hands (and feet) wet with Ebbwater’s tabletop Flood Model. Flood management strategies (protect, adapt and retreat) were explored with hands-on exercises.
